HUMAN RIGHTS DAY CELEBRATED

Human Rights Day is observed annually on December 10 every year in honor of the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption and proclamation, on 10 December 1948, in France, of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, drafted in direct response to the calamities and barbarous acts faced by the people of the world during the Second World War.
The formal establishment of the Human Rights Day occurred at the 317th plenary meeting of the General Assembly on 4 December 1950.



A special commission was set up, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Drafting Committee, chaired by Eleanor Roosevelt to write the articles of Declaration.
Today the declaration contains 30 articles, which was presented in the morning assembly.
